I published a page on loneliness awhile ago, unfortunately I neglected to include information on combating loneliness. Loneliness can cause depression, hypertension (high blood pressure), sleep disorders, and a weakened immune system. Loneliness is a response necessary to living beings in that it encourages connection to others, you feel lonely and then you react by making connections. Some people cannot connect so easily and therein lies the problem, they need help. There is a sort of therapy for this problem and it is a do it yourself cure. Most professionals don't truly treat patients for loneliness, the problem has usually progressed beyond loneliness when professional help is sought. Sousababy is a Giant Squid with Squidoo, and a prolific and an intelligent Lensmaster. She has many great lenses. I was showing her page on technology today and garnering a lot of interest from friends that have no affiliation with Squidoo. She has shown items that were eagerly awaited back in the 50's and 60's, and it was assumed they would be commonplace in this century. That is not exactly what happened, we spent a lot of our intellectual assets on military ventures instead of that which would benefit mankind. In the Squidoo HQ forum there was a piece about setting goals for new users of that platform. It made me think that I simply wanted to write a page that showed the benefits to be gained by switching to renewable energy as a way to power our society. That was my goal. Looking back, I realized that goal and more. The page won a purple star and has been one of my highest performers. I hope that new users will see that a simple goal is easy to keep, if you work the issue.

I wrote a page that is a little sad, but shows the triumph of the human spirit. Personal incidents have given me some reason to become lonely and sad. I realized this was not a healthy way to live. I hope that others will read this page and agree, you cannot give up, life is way too valuable to let some personal misfortune stop you in your tracks. Your loved ones that are still around and the ones that have gone on would be disappointed if you did stop living your life because you feel unhappy.

Hate to speak of depression on a beautiful summer day, however it is a problem many suffer. I had a friend that took his own life because of depression. He exhibited many symptoms but we (his friends) did not notice. We are sorry for that.

I would like to add a footnote to history. Not that this information hasn't been available to most of the public.  I would like to add the information that I have gathered on the subject. If you are over the age of twenty five, this information was not made available to you in America's public schools.

African American men fought and died in every conflict that America has been involved in since the Revolutionary war. This is a true statement, it simply has not been common knowledge in the past. In honor of the country's 235th birthday, I dedicate this page to all of our fighting men in the hope that it adds a footnote to our history.

The military was not integrated until the 1950s, so while Black men fought and died they were not recognized as the military as an institution was racist and segregated. That is no longer the case. This is not a history of a race of people, it is a history of a few unsung Americans. Please enjoy...
